Job Title: Development Specialist
Salary: $20-25/hourly dependent on experience
Start Date: Position open until filled
Type: 20 hours/week
Job Description: The Development Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the Institute’s development strategy. He/she reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors and Development Committee. The Development Specialist will implement and oversee a comprehensive strategic development plan, including capital campaigns, grant writing, fundraising campaigns, special events, membership programs, donor stewardship, and tracking and reporting data using our CRM database. He /she will identify potential donors and cultivate relationships with individuals, foundations and community partners. He/she coordinates sponsorships and in-kind donations and builds relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission of the organization.
Requirements: Demonstrated ability to successfully design and implement donor cultivation, solicitation and retention strategies. Demonstrated experience with capital campaigns and developing funding proposals to foundations. Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and be highly organized. Must have a high level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. He/she must have the ability to manage multiple projects at once and a high degree of competence in using technology to communicate to diverse audiences and record and report data. Must be able to adjust to seasonal or event-related fluctuations in workload and work occasional evenings or weekends.
